Made for a online satire video about the lack of care in the latest Pokémon games. I tasked myself in completing a game which resembles a Pokémon game utilising the same assets that Nintendo has.
The challenge for this was to create a AI for a Pokémon that allows the player to have their favourite party member walk around the world with them and jump and out of battles seamlessly with the battles actually happening within the current world. This was complete at the end of 2021 to celebrate the the release of Pokémon Legends. At the time I had a small following (50k+) on social media so I content creation and game development to create a video to showcase the vertical slice and hopefully entertain.
-Creating a companion system that allows players to catch, fight and explore with your own pokémon
-Utilising Unreal Engines scalable AI system to create multiple agents that work independently and with each other to make a realistic ecosystem for players to explore.
-Allowing players to constantly be in a persistent world that allows their own actions with their companions to affect the world around them
Designing and developing a complete system to procedurally spawn pokémon in the correct areas of the world
-Utilising data tables and gameplay tags to have pokémon associate themselves with certain areas of the game world
-Having a dynamic spawn system that will use spawn rates, location preference and pokémon strength to handle the spawn locations of hundreds of pokémon.
