My Work

Working as the Senior Technical Designer. Being tasked to design and help make the core minute to minute gameplay in Jetstream Courier.

Initially I was the main player in making the base prototype. Utilizing my rapid prototyping skills I was able to make basic parkour movement in unreal in a single day; the foundations of Vaulting, Ledge grabbing, shimmying and wall running was all there by the end of the prototyping day, all of which were then developed on by the juniors in the actual development. Most of my time in development was split between helping to refine and monitor the development of the parkour movement and focusing on making systems to assist the player to play the game.

I had the focus to make sure the player knew exactly what they could do, a big worry I had was that the team was making some great feeling mechanics but they weren’t explained to the player. One of the core principles of the game for me was that any player with any level of experience could pick up the game for 10 minutes and be able to play it. Due to the limit of development time I decided that a tutorial level was not feasible, while workshopping solutions to this I came up with the concept of dynamically attaching prompts on the different mechanics throughout the game world so the player was given all the options that they could do at that time.

Below is the short trailer to the game and also a short video showing some mechanics I worked on
